Toy Dog Breeds -- Toy dog breeds include greyhounds, terriers, pinschers, pugs, chihuahuas, pekingese, spaniels-the official list of the AKC is quite extensive. Regardless of breed, toy dogs are desired for their cuteness and cuddle-ability. Many retain the characteristics of a puppy for their entire lives. This may be one of the big attractions that toy dog breeds hold over larger breed dogs.

Celebrity Inspired Pet Popularity -- Paris Hilton has her beloved Chihuahua, Tinkerbell. Nicole Richie can’t get enough of her Pomeranian, Foxy Cleopatra. Hilary Duff prefers a Pom, while Britney Spears now has a household full of Chi’s.

Those Lively and Lovable Yorkshire Terriers -- A Yorkshire Terrier or "Yorkies" are a very popular dog. They are classified as a toy breed and are one of the world's smallest dogs! These little dogs are brave, clever and want to please you.

The Toy Manchester Terrier -- The Toy Manchester Terrier is also called the "Black and Tan Toy Terrier" and the "English Toy Terrier." This sturdy little dog is highly intelligent and loves human companionship. He loves to be petted! He usually attaches himself firmly with his family.

The Chihuahua: Bred to be a Companion Dog -- Chihuahuas are the oldest dog in North America and the smallest breed in the toy group. They only weigh 2-6 pounds and are only 6-9 inches tall.

Affenpinscher -- Most people fall in love at first sight with this adorable little monkey dog. Thought to be one of the earliest "toy" breeds, the Affenpinscher was originally bred as a rat dog in Germany, though its true origins have gone the way of the dodo bird.

The Mysteriously Cute Black Pomeranian --Most Pomeranians tend to be tan or blended colours with oranges and red being most prominent and common colours of Pomeranians however every now and then a rare gem with be born that is an enterirely black Pomeranian.

Pekingese Dog Information -- According to most pekingese dog information, your "peke" is considered a toy dog. This means that it will weigh roughly 14 pounds. If you have a special breed whose adult weight is 6 pounds or less, it is usually referred to as a Sleeve Pekingese, and between 6 and 8 pounds, it is considered a Mini Peke. Whichever kind of pekingese you have, you can be sure that it considers itself a very special individual. They have definite personalities that show in their very proud and regal stance. So, regardless of size, be prepared to treat your peke like a special member of your family.
